COMMONS III: LIGHT TOUCH

HKU FALL 2023 YEAR 3 DESIGN STUDIO
Light Touch invites students to transfer the knowledge learned from lightweight construction case studies both in modernist and vernacular (Hong Kong fishing village) contexts into the design of a public building in Hong Kong. The studio is organized into three exercises, each aiming to unpack a keyword related to the craft of architecture - structure, construction, and tectonics. In this process, students develop an understanding of the principles, experiment with the process, and articulate the expression or hovering of their aesthetics.
