ABOUT
蘇暢設計研究室通過設計、研究和建造，重塑建築與環境的關係。設計方法從當代文化出發，將傳統工藝與新技術結合，探索日常之物的設計創新。設計注重在清晰的建築形式語言中注入豐富的物質性與生活感。我們強調動手、合作和開放的探索過程，以跨尺度、跨學科的方法開展設計。
我們與當代藝術文化機構的設計合作關注新興文化、新經濟模式與可持續未來，獲得業界和合作夥伴的廣泛認可。
Su Chang Design Research Office brings together design, research, and action to rebuild architecture's relationship with the environment. Our work integrates traditional crafts and emerging technologies to innovate familiar-seeming elements through contemporary cultures. The projects embrace multiple senses of materiality and cultures of living within the clear formal language of architecture. We take a hands-on, collaborative, and open design approach to work on projects across disciplines and scales.
Our design collaboration with contemporary art and cultural institutions has built a reputation for its sensitivity to emerging cultures, new economies, and the expanded notion of sustainability.

蘇暢是香港大學建築學系客席助理教授，蘇暢設計研究室主持建築師。設計研究通過以水為中心的視角探討香港、大灣區與亞洲背景下建築設計、發展與保育問題。設計實驗關注海陸之間的多元流動，以材料為線索探索社區空間活化、社會肌理再生等議題。
寫作與翻譯作品關注建築在不同領域的思想聯繫，包括《美好生活：現代建築導訪》（Iñaki Ábalos）與即將合作出版的《非參照建築》（Valerio Olgiati）。學術寫作包括在《景觀建築學》《建成遺產》發表同行評審的學術論文以及在《城市環境設計》《台灣建築》《香港建築師學報》發表的建築論述等；寫作、訪談及作品見諸《Ocula藝術之眼》《Wallpaper卷宗》及《哈佛Platform》等。蘇暢也是建築寫作平台 《切線》 的創始成員。
蘇暢是註冊建築師、美國建築師學會會員、香港建築師學會協會會員，現任美國建築師學會香港分會公共項目委員會聯合主席。建築學碩士畢業於哈佛大學設計研究院，獲畢業嘉獎及院長獎學金；建築學文學士一級榮譽畢業於香港大學建築學系，獲全額獎學金；曾就讀於北京大學、蘇黎世聯邦理工學院 。
Su Chang is an adjunct assistant professor at the University of Hong Kong and principal of Su Chang Design Research Office. His current research explores a water-centric perspective for understanding architecture, development, and conservation in Hong Kong, the Greater Bay Area, and Asia context. Navigating the shifting dynamics between inland and coastal areas, he has developed design experiments with a material-based approach to rejuvenate spaces and regenerate social fabrics for communities undergoing transformation.
Chang’s writing and translation work similarly connect architecture’s physical presence to its participation in a more extensive geography of ideas, most recently in the Chinese edition of Iñaki Ábalos’s The Good Life: A Guided Visit to the Houses of Modernity (Tongji University Press, 2019) and Valerio Olgiati’s Non-Referential Architecture (forthcoming). Additional publications include peer-reviewed writings for Landscape Architecture Frontier, Built Heritage, and academic contributions to Urban Environment Design, Taiwan Architecture, and HKIA Journal. Public-facing writings include essays, interviews, commentaries, and projects for Ocula, Wallpaper, and the Harvard GSD Platform. Chang has served as a founding member of Tangent Essays, an online and paper-based publishing platform that periodically features writings about architecture.
Chang is a licensed architect, a member of the American Institute of Architects and co-chair of its Hong Kong Chapter’s Programs Committee, and an associate member of the Hong Kong Institute of Architects. Chang received his Master in Architecture with commendation and Dean’s Merit Scholarship from Harvard University Graduate School of Design. Previously, Chang was educated at Peking University, ETH Zürich, and received a Bachelor of Arts in Architectural Studies with First Class Honour and a full scholarship from the University of Hong Kong.
